Primary Purpose of Position:
Ensure company hazardous / dangerous waste handling compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety agencies. Maintain preventative maintenance and machinery documentation. Inventory control. Product research. Maintain SDS information for company. In the absence of the Facilities Manager the Maintenance Administrator is responsible for the department compliance of the Product Safety Program as defined by the QC Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1 Coordinate hazardous waste shipments to ensure Sonderen does not enter into the large quantity generator status by monitoring monthly allowable weight and arranging shipments. Shipments are from 180-day containment areas for non-toxic, dangerous waste, and all recyclables.
2 Obtain profiles on any needed chemicals- when shipping offsite or putting chemical to sewer. Types of profiles are: core-disposal of dangerous waste, chemical- tells all chemicals in product, SDS profiles-when an actual sample is not needed, research SDS for reactivity, fire, volatility, and physical stability. Core profiles or SDS Profiles have been conducted by Emerald /waste transporter. Chemical Profile is done by Oil analysis lab or Emerald depending on disposal method wanted.
3 Obtain quotes from hazardous waste transportation/disposal companies when needed by manager request. Ensure all manifests are kept with information of every shipment. Complete reports as needed:
• Pollution Prevention Plan for Dept of Ecology (1X/year Sept). (Rolfe Parsloe) the Dept. Of Ecology.
• Spokane Air Quality (VOC’s) report (annual due June)
• Turbo Waste report (federal report to Dept. of Ecology and EPA) # of shipments of hazardous waste per year and waste strains (annual due September)
• Dangerous waste annual report (march)
• Hazardous materials management plan with the Spokane Fire Dept (Sept.)
• City of Spokane Waste Water Management (as needed)
4 If a chemical is very hazardous, with managers’ approval, research alternative compliant chemicals (emphasize green chemicals). SDS – update all books and update SDS online to obtain continuous updates for all chemicals in plant. Upload SDS’s not online/library-scan and save as .PDF to be updated in our online folder. Store hard copy of current SDS in file in office, and obsolete SDS’s are stored in perpetuity at offsite storage.
5 New chemicals – SDS and product are to be brought to Facilities Administrator. SDS stamped with the date it was received. Assign a SDS # for Sonderen. SDS is reviewed to ensure it is not toxic (permit needed) if has Sara 313 or 312 title ensure it is noted on SDS and on spreadsheet. Make sure new chemical SDS are entered into the SDS Online Database. Issue an SDS # referencing department used in.
6 Maintain inventory control for lubricants, filters, machine spare parts, custodial supplies, Fastenal machine and other items as requested by Facilities Manager
7 Maintain Documentation for all City/State Agencies (i.e., L&I, WWTP, AIB). Filing as needed, print reports and machine maintenance sheets as requested. Other misc. duties as defined and requested by Maintenance Supervisor
8 Operate company vehicle to pick up parts and supplies as directed by Facilities Manager
9 Manage all aspects of Haz-com and SDS – printing labels, maintaining records, etc.
10 While the regular working cycle of this administrative position is working five 8-hour days (7:00-3:30) Monday-Friday; working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management. Regular and predictable attendance is required between the assigned start and end times of work.

This position requires an AA Degree or equivalent with job related experience and a combination of knowledge, skills, education or work-related experience.
Job related experience for Three (3) or more years’ experience in administration minimum.
Ability to deliver verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with all employees.
Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong Interpersonal/relationship skills
Excellent problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
Intermediate to advances skills in MS Office and strong online research skills
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required
